The DBT group is primarily for those who have difficulties with mood disturbances, impulse control, anxiety, depression, eating disorders, chronic suicidal ideation and attempts, self-harm, and addiction.

The group teaches skills in the following 5 modules:

Mindfulness: Mindfulness is intentionally being in the present moment with full awareness and acceptance. You will learn how to practice mindfulness exercises to move your mind to a wise place to make more effective decisions and to stop ruminating thinking.

Distress Tolerance: Distress tolerance skills are tools to use when you are in a crisis situation and do not want to make the situation worse. You will learn skills to distract, self-soothe and improve the moment in order to reduce and eventually to eliminate destructive behaviors.

Emotion Regulation: Emotion regulation skills help to reduce emotional vulnerability and emotional suffering. You will learn effective ways to both change your emotions and to accept them in the moment.

Interpersonal Effectiveness: Interpersonal effectiveness skills teach you to create, foster and end relationships, set limits and boundaries and say no! You will learn to get your needs met and add healthy relationships to your life.

Walking the Middle Path: Be willing to negotiate and find the “gray” area in situations. Walking the Middle Path skills will help you to reduce all or nothing thinking.
